Pseudo-Code Project Update
I just wanted to let you guys know of a few changes I’ve made to the Pseudo-Code Project.
The first change is just a little change. I’m changing the name from the “Pseudo-Code Engine” to the “Wakizashi Engine”. I choose the name because I’m working on a flexible type of game engine in ActionScript 3 which myself and others will be using to begin production of a number of Flash games (look for the first one near the end of December). This engine is named the Tanto Engine. Tanto is the shortest of three swords traditionally worn and used by Japanese samurai. The wakizashi is the medium-length sword of the three (katana is the longest).
That also brings me to the other change: we are going to be writing this in Flash instead of in Javascript. The reason is principally because it’ll allow me to structure the code a bit nicer than I could with Javascript. We’ll likely create a Javascript-based version later on, but for now we’ll just use the Flash version to play with.
Also, if you’re interested, the Tanto engine will eventually be open-sourced and free to use in your own projects. I’m sure once it’s ready I’ll make use of it as another learning tool once we begin releasing our ActionScript and Flash lessons.
Lots to look forward to!
